MEET YOUR THERAPIST
Dr. Jennifer Helft, PT, DPT
Hi! I am Dr. Jennifer Helft, a physical therapist and an expert in pelvic health. I always knew I wanted to help people, and from an early age found myself receiving help in my own injuries from years of dancing. From this experience, I knew I wanted to be a physical therapist, but little did I know my path would lead me to pelvic health… and I haven’t looked back since!
I graduated with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2017 from Sacred Heart University and began my career in outpatient orthopedics focusing on musculoskeletal injuries and post-operative care. After the birth of my son and a deep-dive into recognizing the relationship of the pelvic floor to the rest of the body, my curiosity took off and I developed a strong interest in pelvic health problems and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction. I completed post-doctorate training in pelvic health through the Herman and Wallace Institute and have a passion for continuous learning through pelvic health continuing education. I promise to always be willing to strengthen my knowledge to best help you!
In 2025, I founded Modern Pelvic Health Physical Therapy to carry on my ethos of providing accessible care for women and men managing pelvic pain and symptoms, placing the patient first and empowering each person to understand their symptoms and advocate for their care. I pride myself on taking a unique integrative approach to addressing the needs of the whole body - after all, we are a whole human attached to our pelvis! I hold a special interest in helping women navigate the function of the pelvic floor throughout the lifespan including pregnancy and menopause, and improving the behavioral and biomechanical components of pelvic floor dysfunction. Our bodies are often one giant physics experiment, and I accept the challenge of determining how to find the answers.
I am a wife, mother to an incredible 5-year old, and dog-mom to our lovable Lucy. When not working, I enjoy monthly reading challenges, sipping on WAY too much coffee, adventuring with my family and finding any excuse to be in the sunshine. I was born and raised on Long Island and am overjoyed to be helping the members of my community. I can’t wait to meet you and get you started on your pelvic health journey!
